Tapped Mani
  • Fashion Inspired

Hello, hello! How are you today? I'm doing well. I've had a relaxing day painting my nails! I haven't spent so much time on a mani in a while until today. I was inspired for the mani I painted today by a Carolina Herrara dress from her Spring 2015 collection.

I absolutely love fashion, especially couture fashion. Many years ago I thought by now I would be a couture fashion designer. I have so many sketches from years ago but it's been quite some time since I've designed clothing. I'm still inspired by fashion though so it's fun to recreate fashion in nail art form.

This was quite the process... I painted scotch tape in the different colors I needed with Cirque Colors. Then I cut the tape in tiny pieces and placed the pieces where I wanted with tweezers. At first I thought I might just create this art on a couple accent nails but in the end I covered all 10 nails!

I hope you have a fabulous evening! I hope you like how this turned out!

    Cirque - Sunset Park

Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat

  • Cirque La Vie

Hey there! So, in case you haven't noticed, my favorite polish is Cirque Colors! I have a very difficult time not purchasing every shade they create! (And the Spring Collection launches tonight!!) Here is a taped mani I created with three Cirque Colors.

Here's a bit of the process for my taped mani. I've been using tape for about 20 years (no joke) in my manis. Before there was nail art tape and nail vinyls I used masking tape and cut it in all kinds of shapes so I could paint around it. These days there are great tools and supplies, pre-made, to help the process go a little faster. These are nail vinyls in 90 degree angles.

I'm VERY excited about how this turned out! It's so great to pull back the tape and see the finished product!

I hope you have a great evening and a good Good Friday tomorrow! Thanks for swinging by!

  • ILNP | After Midnight

Hello, how is your week going? I keep thinking I'm a day closer to Friday and then I realize I'm not. This week has been been difficult and draining in a few ways, but I'm still so grateful for what I have and each day is a new day...

For some reason the past few Decembers I've waited too long to paint festive manis. I don't know why, so I'm going to paint more this year. Here's a simple taped mani to form a little Christmas tree.

I hope you like how this turned out as much as I do! It's kind of like an outdoor tree scene in the snow... I hope the rest of your week goes well. Check back soon for my next festive mani...

    Supplies:

    Picture Polish - Glitter Base

    ILNP - After Midnight

    Cirque - Sani

    Cirque - One More Time

Seche Vite - Fast Dry Top Coat

  • Silver Poinsettias

Hello there...how are you this evening? I'm doing pretty well. I've decorated my house for my first Christmas in it, which I love! Here's my tree! 🎄

And of course I still make time for nail art! Here's one I'm very happy with! I'm excited about how the detail came out so clear. I'm not entirely sure if this image was meant to be a specific flower but it looks a lot like little poinsettias to me.

I enjoy Christmas manis and I tend to try and create some that aren't so obviously festive. A little covert, perhaps... What do you think? Does this pass as a version of a holiday mani?

Thank you for stopping by! Blessings to you...

    Seche Clear - Base Coat

    A England - Heathcliff

A England - Let Me In

  • September | Metropolis

Hello, hello! How are you? Can you believe it's almost the middle of September?! I just can't believe how fast the summer flew by!

I have to admit though, that fall and winter colors are my absolute favorite for nail polish! So with all the new collections being released, I'm giddy! And also very challenged on what to buy... Now that I'm a home owner and have house stuff to do, I no longer add the whole collections to my cart like I used to.

Anyways... Here are the first three polishes I have for September. Cirque Colors is my favorite polish and as I've mentioned before they have a monthly release of cream colors inspired by NYC to make up The Metropolis Collection. They released three this month and I absolutely adore them!

    Page Six

    Jane on Jane St.

Deco (my fave of the three!)

And of course a combination of them all!

The Metropolis Collection is amazing, the formulas are perfection and there are so many gorgeous colors to choose from! Don't forget that Cirque has nail treatments too. I'm on my second bottle of their base coat and I can't live without their Tea Tree Cuticle Oil.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

  • Cirque Forever...

Hey there, how are you? I'm doing pretty well and enjoying these late summer days. Recently, Cirque Colors created a limited edition collection for a Nordstrom Pop-In shop along with Warby Parker. If you don't know Warby Parker please check them out. They give back with every purchase! I have all the swatches in a previous post so look there to see all of them.

I love all the shades! I chose Greenwich and a couple other Cirque Colors for nail art...

I used Greenwich, Epoch and Never Nude for this tapped, dotted mani. I really love how this turned out and I always love how multiple shades from the same creator but collections apart go so well together!

I hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Oh Louboutin...

Happy weekend to you. How are you today? I have been a major introvert and didn't leave my place at all today. I do love people, but sometimes it's very refreshing to just chill out on my own. I was given such an amazing Christmas gift from my boyfriend and I just have to share it with you! How great is my man!?

I just LOVE this color! It's a simple, rich navy cream but there's something special about it. It's nearly a one-coater too, but I always paint two. The inkwell-type cap is so comfortable to use, though it's a little shorter than the Rouge cap. I'm sure the Rouge is it's own design since it's THE Louboutin color.

So, as usual, I couldn't leave it alone... I have a few pictures below of art I added to this beauty. These two pics show a taped stiletto design with a gunmetal shade (Zoya, Claudine) to mimick the bottle.

And here I added Enchanted Polish's To Die For glitter on my ring fingers, then stamped with Bundle Monster's plate 604, Essie's No place Like Chrome and Picture Polish's Pandora for the dot accents. You just can't go wrong with navy!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! Thanks for hangin in there with my picture-heavy post today! 😁

  • Llarowe Duo

Happy mid-week! How are you? I have a really fun duo to show you this evening. I have used two of my favorite Llarowe polishes for this nail art. I used Final Fantasy, the light gold-pink holo, and Dirty Diana, the berry holo. Llarowe creates amazing holo polishes in very unique shades. They all apply perfectly and many are almost opaque in one coat.

I painted two coats of Final Fantasy, tapped off the middle to paint the black. I re-tapped the edges of the black to paint a stripe of Dirty Diana. After all that, I chose a slim stamping design and stamped down the center. There were a lot of steps for this mani but I am so happy with the way it turned out! It was fun to combine taping and stamping.

I hope that you have a great evening and a good Thursday tomorrow. I hope to see you soon!

    Supplies:

    Llarowe - Final Fantasy

    Llarowe - Dirty Diana

    Essie - Liccorice

    Konad - Black

    Bundle Monster Plate - 213

  • So Rouge

Hey there, how are you? I'm doing well. I'm more sleepy today than usual for a Saturday but that's alright. I get to relax today. What are your weekend plans? I decided to use the stunning Louboutin Rouge again the other day. The only other time I've worn it, I didn't add anything to it. This time I didn't add much, but it went a long way, I think.

So there you have it. Just simple studs and a couple stripes but it's definitely a striking mani. I used Essie's No place Like Chrome for the stripes and of course my trusty Seche Vite top coat.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great afternoon!

  • Cirque | Boudoir & Trocadero

Hello, hello...do I have a couple beauties to show you today! Cirque has released a fall collection of four colors called The Burlesque Collection. I always have a hard time not purchasing the whole collection but this time I kept myself under control and bought two of the four.

The first I have to show you is Boudoir. It's described as a vampy burgundy with lots of rainbow holo. Anything berry in color gets me at first glance so I absolutely knew I would order this one. It does lean toward a raspberry rather than "vampy burgundy" as I expected but I still absolutely love it! I used Cirque's Holdfast base coat and Liquid Laminate top coat with two coats of Boudoir.

The next is Trocadero, a true navy holo and it's BEAUTIFUL!! I'm a sucker for blues, and holos of course, and this is no exception. This is a great addition to my blue, holo collection. This is also two coats over Cirque's Holdfast base and under Liquid Laminate top coat.

I couldn't decide which color to wear first so I wore both! Here's a simple taped mani with both Boudoir and Trocadero.

Be sure to check out the Cirque site for the whole Burlesque Collection. You're sure to love it! I hope you have a great evening!

  • Chevron Swoop

Hi, hi! It's such a beautiful day! The birds are chirping, the sun is shining... It's a quintessential summer day in Colorado Springs and it makes me smile inside and out!

I feel like I haven't painted much nail art lately so I decided to use little tape guides for this mani. I'm not sure what to call the shape exactly so that's the reason for the chevron swoop. 😊

Normally I cut out all my own tape guides but these came in a little package I ordered a bit ago and saved a lot of time. I started with the silver then taped and painted above and below the tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous Sunday!

    ILNP - Mega

    Zoya - Storm

Collors by Llarowe - Dirty Dianna

  • Mint with a hint of rose...

Good day to you! How is your weekend going? Mine is going well. I need to get my lazy self out for a run today though...it's been a while. Before I do, though, I wanted to share my most recent mani with you. It all starts with a fabulous mint cream polish from Essie. Here we go!

I've always loved the combination of mint or turquoise of some kind and red. There's just something about it and these two shades turned out just how I'd hoped. I really love to use tape for nail art too. Years ago (like over 15) I only used tape for all my nail art. If stamping plates existed, I sure didn't know about them so tape was my only known option. :)

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday afternoon and I look forward to seeing you soon!

  • Blues...

Hey there Saturday dwellers! It's always a great thing to get to the weekend. :) Here's a mani that just kind of came to be... I started with my base coat of Enchanted Polish's April 2014 and the little nail studs but knew it needed something more so I just started taping. I really do love using tape.

It's interesting how I refer to the Enchanted Polish as a pale lilac or lavender but paired with Midnite Meteor it compliments the blue and leans that direction in its hue. I love these polishes together!

I hope you have a great day!

    Supplies:

    Seche Clear - Base Coat

  • Unorthodox Annie

Hi there! How are you this evening? I'm a little tired...and it was my Monday. :/ Not that I'm complaining about a 3-day weekend but it is a little bit of a challenge to then get five days of work done in four... Oh well. It'll all work out. :)  I hope your week is off to a good start! I have a new-to-me Llarowe polish called Unorthodox Annie. It's a fabulous deep, wine red with an edge of plumb and the best part...it's a holo!

This is such an amazing polish! It's my favorite of my Llarowe polishes so far. Did you notice the picture I took in the sun? Soooo, gorgeous! I used nail art tape to section off the triangle accents to compliment the triangle studs. I think this ended up being a great look! I used to tape all the time but I don't as much as I used to. I always love the results.

I hope you have a great evening or day...whichever is ahead for you.

  • Get to the point...

Hello, hello again! Here we are, Thursday. I'm actually pretty excited because I have a four-day weekend so technically, this was my Friday at work! :) I'll be heading out for a date with my wonderful man soon but I wanted to post this for all to see more of the brilliance of A England.

I've had these three colors for a while and have used them often but never together. I stamped the lightening bolts and taped off the points for the other nails. That look was inspired by an all time favorite, Pshiiit Polish. She's always inspiring.

I hope you like it! And have a great night.

  • New Cirque Fabulousness!!

Hello fellow polish lovers! Wow, do I have fabulousness to show you today! One of my very favorite indi-polishes ever, Cirque, has launched a new collection called Heritage. It consists of seven unbelievable holo polishes and I used five to create this mani.

As always, these incredible polishes are completely flawless. They apply like a dream and are opaque in two coats. They are holo polishes with a twist because they each have a new dimension. I hope to swatch them all this weekend but I chose these few to paint with this time.

    Have a great night!

  • February Nail Art Challenge - 14

Good morning! Happy Friday! And Happy Valentine's Day! Today's nail art challenge theme is to match outfit of the day a.k.a. OOTD. My outfit consists of a burgundy dress, black tribal print leggings, a gray sweater and black boots. Here's the mani.

So what do you think? I didn't match patterns or anything but more the colors and used striping tape to make the sections precise. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and Valentine's Day! Thanks for stopping by and look for another nail art challenge post in just a couple days.

  • February Nail Art Challenge - 11

Hello! I hope your week is off to a good start! Today is another day of the February Nail Art Challenge and the theme: Pastel. It's a little early in Colorado to break out the pastels...the walkway to my place is a solid sheet of ice and we haven't seen the sun in two days (which is a long time for us). Although, now that I think of it...I guess in a way the pastels came at just the right time to brighten things up. :)

I started with two coats of a pink I never expected to like but I LOVE it! It's just right and I actually look forward to wearing it more. I taped off sections and then just added the two Zoya colors to accent the pink. In the end I thought it would look super soft matte so added the matte top coat. I really, really like this mani.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope wherever you are that it's bright and full of joy for you! See you again soon!

  • Guinevere, Ascalon, Fonteyn

Good evening to you! I hope you've had a great day! Mine was a little up and down but ended very well! :) I pulled out a couple old favorites and added a new one; all from the fabulous A England.

I used tape to section off the areas I wanted to paint different shades. I love how precise the nail art tape allows the design to be. I included one last photo that I caught in my kitchen when the sun was peeking through the window and the way it lights up the beautiful holo polishes is amazing! I really love the turnout.

I hope you have a wonderful evening and day tomorrow. See you soon!

  • Doorways...

Hi there! It's cold and snowy in my city today so it made for perfect mani weather! :) I've been stamping so much lately that I thought it was time to take the time and tape a manicure this time.

My experience with nail art began with taping off designs so this method does come naturally to me. It just takes quite a while so I don't go this route as often. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!! Thanks, as always, for stopping by today. :)

    Supplies:

  • Baptisia at Fascination Street

Good evening! I hope you had a wonderful week! Mine was quite good and I have a three-day weekend so even better! Add two more amazing polishes from Cirque that I will show you below and it doesn't get much better. :) I used two shades that are from two different collections, like my last post too. It's amazing how across the Cirque collections the tones of the colors compliment each other so well. Here are Baptisia from the latest collection, Alchemy and Fascination Street from the Dark Horse collection.

I decided to tape off a reverse moonicure, as I like to call it. I'm so pleased with the way it turned out! I love the subtle shimmer and sparkle offered through the incredible Baptisia. And Fascination Street is an amazing holo polish. Both of these colors lean more purple in natural light but shift to blue off and on which makes these so enjoyable. I hope you enjoy too.

    Happy weekend to you!

  • Geometric Stamping

Hey there! So I really loved my Liquid Sand hombre from yesterday but I must say that I should probably use the darker color reversed near the cuticle because just from today the dark tips were wearing off. Oh well, an excuse to paint again! ;)

This evening I had a different plan but I ended up stamping and taping. I even painted two little studs to change things up a bit.

I LOVE this color, Diamond Weapon, from the latest Rainbow Honey collection: The Final Battle. It applies easily in two coats and is so versatile!

After the fabulous base of Diamond Weapon, I started to stamp. BTW, does anyone else make a big mess like I do stamping? Ha! The Konad special stamping polish in Black needs the most clean up for me...

I think I like the outcome even though the accent nail isn't quite what I planned. I love the Bundle Monster image though! It reminds me of detail Donatella Versace used a couple summers ago in her collection.

So this one will most likely stay on a bit but we'll see. Thanksgiving may need its own mani. Until next time, be well! :)

    Supplies:

    Seche Clear - Base Coat

    Rainbow Honey - Diamond Weapon

    Konad - Black

    Bundle Monster plate - 410

    A England - Bridal Veil

    A England - Briar Rose

Born Pretty Studs - Originally gold but I painted them with Briar Rose

  • Hollywood Holo

Good evening! I hope you're looking forward to fun weekend plans. I have a couple family events coming up that should be quite nice.  I've been stamping a lot lately so this manicure I decided to use tape for.

I used two scatter holo polishes for this manicure along with tape to create accent nails. Picture Polish, Monroe, is a stunning deep berry with a scatter holo effect that catches whatever light it can. The formula is flawless, very easy to control and dries quite quickly. It has a bit of the jelly formula to it which helps create depth so this is three coats and a top coat though only one coat for the accent nails. The accent nails are Ozotic 606 and also a scatter holo in a pale lilac. It shimmers silver in the light and is a very similar formula to Monroe. Extremely easy to control.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my latest mani!

    Supplies:

    Picture Polish - Monroe

    Ozotic - 606
